This work sucks. Now that I have your attention, Mr. Fox, I really like the picture, there's a lovely effect of fading in the background, but what I want to know is: the black, how did you applied it? It's really rough, maybe charcoals? Or simply graphite?
This piece is just exquisite. As others have said, "steam punk" does really seem to go welll in your style. Though I'd imagine you'd have a fair amount of knowledge based on this picture.
The small details of this piece is really eye engaging, but at the same time it isn't too cluttered or take away from the center of the piece. Not to mention the design of Rarity's outfit is not only really well done, but also very in character, something I can really appreciate.
I think though my favorite portion of the image though is the color choice. Even with all of the minor details, great design, and interesting composition, your eyes always go back to Rarity, simply because of her bright and vibrant colors. Yet at the same time, it still manages to fit within the scenery and scenario. As anybody could imagine, some who would try this could make her colors stick out in a bad way due to the color choice for the "steam punk" background they could have made. I just can't help but admire how this image not only is very well constructed and is very eye pleasing, but is also very plausible.
